17th of September – Day of the town of Lom
The holiday of the town is celebrated on 17th of September since 1993 with resolution №171/21.07.1993 issued by the Municipal Council.
The Day of Lom is marked yearly on 17th of September in honour of the church holiday St Martyr Sophia and her three daughters Faith, Hope and Love. The Christians honour the memory of three infant girls – Faith, Hope and Love, and their mother Sophia on this day. The four martyrs died due to their faith in 2nd century. At the day of their sacrifice, the Christians honour the original church virtues – wisdom, faith, hope, love.
The obligatory elements of the holiday are:
• Solemn holy mass and public prayer at the cathedral church The Assumption
• Official session of the Municipal Council and awarding of notorious persons with the rank Honourable citizen of Lom and Krystio Pishurka
• Gala concert
The festive events for the Day of Lom are organized by the mayor of Municipality of Lom.
